Learning Lab

Presenter: Rebecca Johnson

Track: Wade in the Messy Middle

About the Session

The modern workplace brings pressure to do more with less. Boundaries between work and home life are blurred more than ever before. Change is constant. As we experience the uptick in stress that comes with these new demands, we’ve also recognized that the traditional way we view stress isn’t helpful and actually contributes to burnout. New research illustrates that stressors can actually be reframed and leveraged to create high performance, better connection with those that matter and even extend our life. In this is highly interactive and self-reflective workshop, participants will examine their own unique stressors and engage in conversations that help them see these stressors through a new lens and open up new options for responding.

Learning Objectives

  1. Develop new thinking on stress based on recent research.

  2. Utilize skillful storytelling and cognitive reframing to change the stress response for greater resilience, emotional wellbeing, and mental clarity.

  3. Learn more about the concept of micro-recovery and identify at least three personal micro-recovery strategies they can easily operationalize at work and home.
